Artist's Description

February is Black History Month. So I thought I would paint a version of Rosa Parks with the famous bus, to bring to light an important piece of American history. I found her story to be one of bravery, considering the circumstances of her time and I admire her very much. I can only hope that i have honored her memory by doing this painting.

December 1, 1955. Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat to a white passenger. She was arrested and fined for violating a city ordinance, but her defiant act began a movement that ended segregation in America.
I think it is important to keep in mind the people like Rosa Parks who believed in human rights and equality for a better future for mankind.

I encourage children everywhere to explore the world through art and creativity! I would...
